Secret Guide to Crowd Free Beaches in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is an amazing place to plan a vacation and one of the most popular resort towns in all of Mexico! One of its key features that attracts visitors from far and wide is its gorgeous beaches. Many potential tourists picture themselves relaxing on the golden beaches during a warm, sunny day with an ice cold drink in hand. Does this sound like paradise? It definitely comes close!
If you’re like most people, you no doubt want to take full advantage of the fabulous beaches in Puerto Vallarta. The only problem is, every other visitor also has this same fantasy. This is especially true during peak tourist seasons which is November to May 1, including all major holidays. In this seasons, millions of tourists come to spend their all inclusive vacations in Mexico. This high foot traffic can cause the popular beaches on the coast to quickly fill up and leave little space for your own private area. If you’re planning to book a vacation during one of the peak seasons but are still looking for a more relaxing and private beach experience, then it’s time you learn about some lesser-known, crowd-free beaches in Puerto Vallarta!
Here are three beaches to consider visiting when traveling to Puerto Vallarta during a busy season:
Majahuitas
This is another Jalisco beach that is a favorite to many, and located right in Puerto Vallarta. What makes it so unique is that the only way to reach this secluded beach is by sea. That’s right- this beach has lower foot traffic because visitors can not simply walk around and stumble upon this beach. They would need to know about it and head over to the right starting points and take a water taxi over.
If a private area, free from major crowds is your ideal way to spend a beach day, then add Majahuitas to your itinerary. The area has a number of sea caves and marine life such as sea turtles, parrot fish, puffer fish, sea cucumbers, and more can be seen swimming through the waters. This beach is great for some sunbathing, like hiking, swimming, or even just enjoying a good book.
Las Animas
Head over to the Southern zone of Puerto Vallarta to take advantage of this wonderful beach. Just as with Majahuitas, the only way to make your way over to Las Animas is by water taxi. The difference is Las Animas offers more activities for tourists, so it is likely to host more visitors compared Majahuitas.
Las Animas is the perfect beach choice if you are interested in enjoying a variety of tourist activities that Puerto Vallarta has to offer without all of the crowds that the popular beaches have. Here, you will find a number of delicious restaurants, cruise trips that you can take, and even tour operators who can give you an inside look at the area.
Destiladeras
This beach is located between Burros and Bucerias and is the farthest away from Puerto Vallarta on this list. It is roughly 23 miles away from the city, depending where exactly you are staying. While it’s further away on the map, it is a beautiful beach, less-crowded beach that is worthy of a visit.
This is definitely a family-friendly beach, so if you are traveling with children this would be a great location to visit. You will find a few stores local stores that you can browse through for some small souvenirs, snacks, or a cold drink. Be sure to bring your own food, as you won’t find any stores selling full meals.
While visiting the main beaches around Puerto Vallarta is great, these three beaches are an ideal option if want to soak up the sun with a quieter experience. You can expect fewer families with children running around, not to mention you have the chance to explore new areas that aren’t as visited. Each offers golden sands and sparkling blue water that is picture-perfect.
If you really want to put the cherry on top of your Puerto Vallarta vacation, be sure to book a dazzling villa located right on the water. Not to mention, our friendly team would be happy to provide you with assistance in planning your beach trip!
